Best poet wins £25 (as chosen by the editorial team)Who can tell what is lurking in the shadows? We are inviting you to submit a poem based around things that go bump in the night. The poem can be specifically written about ghosts, ghouls, shadows and other creepy beings. It could even be written in regards to feeling left in the dark , or perhaps an event where you, or someone in your life, has had a bad experience and spiralled into darkness. Scary or silly, serious or slapstick, we want to hear from you.

  • Free to enter
  • Open to all ages
  • One entry per person
  • No line limit (within reason)
  • No restrictions on poetic style or form
How to enter
Online poetry competition upload: You can upload your entry directly to us using our online upload page. Remember to fill in all fields.
Email: You can email your 'Into Darkness' poem to inbox@forwardpoetry.co.uk, including your name and address (and your age if under 18). Make sure you include 'Into Darkness' in the subject line.
